FEAR - F&@! Everything And ROAR!

Using the energy of fear to thrive!

Fear is the primary force at the root of many emotions that hold us back from reaching our full potential. It acts as a barrier, influencing our responses and decisions in ways that often keep us from moving forward and growing. Whether it's the anxiety of failure, the dread of judgment, or the uncertainty of the unknown, fear shapes our emotional landscape and can keep us trapped if left undetected. Fear is crafty in how it shows up, so sometimes it is really hard to recognize as an opportunity to address in order to achieve goals.

Fear gets a bad wrap most of the time. It appears a villain; however, beneath its surface, fear is the key to transformation.

I was given the opportunity to study and get certified as a professional coach through iPEC (Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching). I was drawn to this school specifically because of my strong feeling of alignment with the Foundation Principles of their Energy Leadership Model.

Understanding and managing fear through the iPEC Energy Leadership Model's seven levels of energy provides a powerful framework for my COPE program. By recognizing, confronting and re-channeling fear, we can turn these obstacles into opportunities to roar and unlock a path to personal, athletic and professional growth.

This blog gives you a sneak peak of how it works.

Managing Fear with the 7 Levels of Energy, master how to COPE, and learn to ROAR

Fear is an emotion that can be both paralyzing and powerful. It has the potential to inhibit growth, limit opportunities, and create internal barriers. However, by understanding and applying these energy principles, you can transform your relationship with fear and harness it as a catalyst for power.

My COPE Program at Mindset Motivator uses the Energy Leadership model in conjunction with Positive Intelligence, principles and practices from 12-step spiritual programs and expertise extracted from my personal, professional, and life experiences. Partnering with me will empower you to take your fear and transform it into your ROAR (anyone close to me understands my relationship with a roar 🐅 😉!)

Level 1: Victim Energy

At this level, fear manifests as a feeling of helplessness and resignation. Thoughts may be, “I can’t do this,” or “This is too overwhelming.” This energy is characterized by a passive response to fear, where you might avoid challenges or opportunities due to feeling anxious.

COPE tip: Recognize when you’re in victim mode and acknowledge that fear is a natural part of the process. Shift your focus from what you can’t do to what you can do. Start by taking small, manageable steps to address the source of your fear.

Level 2: Conflict Energy

In this state, fear turns into frustration and resistance. You might find yourself in internal or external conflicts, trying to control or fight against what scares you. Phrases like, “Why is this happening to me?” or “This isn’t fair,” reflect this energy. You feel angry.

COPE tip: Use conflict/anger as a signal to pause and assess. Instead of resisting, explore what the fear is trying to show you. Seek constructive ways to address the conflict, and use the energy from frustration to fuel action and problem-solving.

Level 3: Responsibility Energy

Here, fear is acknowledged, you see it. You begin to take responsibility for your own role in the situation. This level is characterized by an awareness of how your actions, thoughts, and attitudes contribute to your experiences. You might think, “I have some control over this situation” or “I can choose how to respond.”

COPE tip: Embrace a proactive mindset. Identify what you have control over and how you can influence the situation. Focus on solutions rather than dwelling on problems. This shift helps in converting fear into motivation for growth.

Level 4: Concern Energy

At this level, fear becomes a source of concern, leading to empathetic action and genuine care. You may feel, “I am worried about the outcome, but I want to do what’s best for everyone.” There is a focus on understanding and addressing the impact of your actions on others.

COPE tip: Channel your concern into constructive action. Use this level to seek support from others (create a team), gather insights, and address the underlying issues with empathy and collaboration.

Level 5: Reconciliation Energy

Fear at this stage is seen as an opportunity for reconciliation and growth. You start to understand the bigger picture and integrate the lessons learned. You might think, “This fear has opened my eyes to some valuable insights,” or “I know I am growing through this experience.”

COPE tip: Embrace the growth process. Reflect on how your experiences have contributed to your personal development and use this awareness to navigate future challenges with a sense of resilience and optimism.

Level 6: Innovation Energy

Fear at this level drives creativity and innovation. You are open to exploring new possibilities and experimenting with unconventional solutions. The thought process might include, “What new opportunities can arise from this situation?” or “How can I approach this differently?”

COPE tip: Use fear as a catalyst for creativity. As soon as it appears, allow it to push you out of your comfort zone and inspire innovative solutions. Embrace experimentation and view challenges as opportunities (Create Opportunity Perspective Excellence) for creative breakthroughs. Take the symptoms of "anxiety" and create, "anxitement!"

Level 7: Essence Energy

At the highest level, fear is integrated into a sense of purpose and alignment with your core values. You experience fear as a part of a larger, meaningful journey. Thoughts may include, “This challenge aligns with my purpose,” or “I am on the path that is true to my authentic self,” or, "This is what I train for."

COPE tip - ROAR!: Connect with your deeper sense of purpose (your WHY). Use fear as a guide to align your actions with your core values and aspirations (your WHO). This alignment provides a powerful source of motivation and helps you move forward with confidence and clarity.

Conclusion

Managing fear is not about eliminating it, but about transforming it. By partnering with me and learning how to COPE, you can shift from a reactive, fear-driven mindset to a proactive, empowered approach.

Embrace the journey of moving through these levels, and allow fear to become a powerful ally in your personal, athletic and professional growth. Remember, fear is not a barrier but a doorway to greater self-awareness and potential.
